NBA Legend Rips Apart Boston Celtics’ Offense
David Butler II-USA TODAY Sports

NBA legend Charles Barkley has been known for dropping scathing takes on various topics in the league. But according to him, though, the Boston Celtics way of executing an offense is the worst he has seen.

During the previous offseason, the Celtics’ front office were major players when they dealt Marcus Smart to the Memphis Grizzlies and acquired Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday at the same time. These additions helped opened up another layer for the team on both ends of the court as they now boast a number of two-way players in the lineup.

The new-look Celtics managed to rise up to expectations and dominated the NBA throughout the regular season. Over the course of 82 games, Boston fielded a top-ranked offense and a defense that placed third among 30 teams in the league. Thanks to a lineup headed by All-Star Jayson Tatum and reinforced by Jaylen Brown, Derrick White, Holiday, and Porzingis, the team was able to enter the playoffs with the number one seed in the Eastern Conference.

After two rounds in the playoffs, the Celtics have advanced to the Conference Finals. In the first round, Boston took care of business against a Jimmy Butler-less Miami Heat team. Just recently, they eliminated Donovan Mitchell and the Cleveland Cavaliers in five games to advance to the next round.

NBA Legend Charles Barkley Blasts Boston Celtics’ Offense

While almost everyone applauded the Boston for a dominant run so far, NBA legend Charles Barkley blasted the team for how they have been playing their offense in the postseason. In a video shared by ClutchPoints on X:

There’s an argument to be made about the Celtics’ path being easier than their counterparts in the Western Conference. Unlike the Denver Nuggets, Dallas Mavericks, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Minnesota Timberwolves, Boston’s offense worked like magic against handicapped Heat and Cavaliers teams.

The Celtics will once again be tested by either the New York Knicks or Indiana Pacers in the Conference Finals. From there, Barkley will be proven right or wrong in the coming days when they possibly reach the NBA Finals.
