Top running back recruit in the nation reveals special invite amid visits to Georgia, Ohio State, and Clemson
Adam Cairns/Columbus Dispatch / USA TODAY NETWORK

Savion Hiter of Woodberry Forest, VA is the number one running back recruit in the nation for the 2026 recruiting class. If you're unfamiliar with Hiter, he's been considered the top running back in the class for nearly a year now thanks to his incredible speed, flexibility, burst, and swagger. His Twitter header aptly states "I'm Him" for good reason.

Although he's still just a sophomore in high school Hiter has already reportedly received more than 20 FBS scholarship offers from some of the biggest brands in all of college football. Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, and Penn State, just to name a few.

Hiter has already visited both Clemson and Georgia this month during spring practices. He's slated to visit Ohio State before the end of the month. But amid all of his exciting travels across the country Savion Hiter apparently received a special invitation normally reserved for players heading into their senior year of high school. According to the young star himself, he's been invited to play in the 2025 Under Armour All-American Game.

This is a huge deal given so few players are invited each year. When the time comes for the Under Armour All-American Game to actually take place, each team will be comprised of 60 players. That means only 120 high school football players (of the more than 1 million in total) from around the country will be able to participate. And as already mentioned, the rosters are comprised almost exclusively of seniors unless a player is a truly transcendent talent.

Hiter's hype train will surely speed up now that he's slated to be one just a handful of juniors to feature at the most prestigious high school football game in America next January. But who will actually land Hiter in recruiting? Early rumblings suggest there are a few key teams firmly in the mix.

Top Schools to Potentially Land Hiter

Georgia football seems like a strong front runner after having just hosted Hiter less than two weeks ago. Both he and his family raved about their experience there and loved the coaches. However, Ohio State, Clemson, Tennessee, and Penn State likely aren't far behind.

Hiter visited Clemson just before his stop in at Georgia, but no official scholarship offer from them has been announced. As many of you already know, Dabo is famously picky and slow in this regard.

His last known visit for the month of March will be with Ohio State this coming weekend. We'll see if the Buckeyes (owners of perhaps the best backfield in the nation right now) can make their case and take the lead in his recruitment.

The two sneaky teams to watch are Penn State and Tennessee. According to multiple sources both Penn State and Tennessee running back coaches visited Hiter in the past few months. Both programs have had offers in on Hiter for over a year now as well.

Hiter's recruitment will be one of the most fiercely fought battles in the college football landscape over the next year and a half.
