Well, well, well. Week 10 was a very impactful weekend in regard to the College Football Playoff. We just entered November and it seems that Alabama's and Clemson's playoff hopes are dashed. Tennessee, who was the CFP committee's top-ranked team last week, was spanked by this week's top team, Georgia. Meanwhile, TCU keeps winning and schools like Oregon, USC, LSU and Ole Miss keep climbing after suffering losses earlier in the season.
It also sets up for a very interesting finish to the season. We get an Ohio State-Michigan showdown that could be an elimination game ... or maybe not. Georgia should enter the SEC championship game undefeated, but their opponent could be a two-loss LSU or a one-loss Ole Miss. TCU must beat Texas, Baylor and Iowa State before facing the Horns or Bears in the Big 12 title game. It will take an undefeated season for the Frogs to get into the playoff. Then there's what could be a wild Pac-12 race to the very end as Oregon, USC and UCLA all have a shot at the playoff but must fend off Utah and Washington just to get into the Pac-12 title game. We haven't even mentioned the ACC, where one-loss teams Clemson and North Carolina seem to be all but set up to meet in their title game in Charlotte.
There's no party crasher like Cincinnati this time around, though TCU is sort of taken over that role of an undefeated team that the committee seemingly doesn't respect that much.
We have three weeks left in the regular season before what should be a whale of a weekend of conference championship games and before the Heisman trophy will be awarded. So here are the players to watch in a key Week 11.
